Brendon Wilson awarded Lifetime Membership of TINZ

Brendon Wilson was awarded Lifetime Membership of Transparency International New Zealand (TINZ) at the AGM in late November.  Brendon joined TINZ in 2014 and was appointed to the Board in 2016, completing the term of a departing Director, which was his first term.  He was then elected to the Board by members in 2017 and again in 2020, serving a total of just over seven years on the Board.

TINZ Rules require three terms or a maximum of nine years – bringing Brendon’s full allowable number of terms to conclusion at our November AGM.

During his time on the Board Brendon’s contribution has been deep and sustained.

  • Deputy Chair since December 2021. This has included representing TINZ at Select Committee hearings and policy consultations, at formal stakeholder events and at TINZ events and presentations.  His calm wisdom has also assisted TINZ to work through challenges, using good process and common sense.
  • Chair of the Personnel Committee since 2018.   A very busy role that included appointment and performance reviews for the CEO, appointment of a Patron, appointments of Members with Delegated Authority and succession planning.   Brendon has also provided fine governance oversight of general personnel appointments and has been involved in various relevant committee business such as terms of reference for committees, EAP programme support review, and COVID personnel support.
  • Member of the Administration & Finance Committee and then the Audit & Risk Committee since 2016.
  • As Director with governance responsibility for Business Integrity.  His valuable contributions in this area included governance support for the FISA project, and for the Business Integrity Programme and developing strategic relationships with the business sector.
  • He was a member of the TINZ Māori caucus.

We will miss Brendon’s governance, but he has assured us that he will continue to support TINZ in whatever way he can.
