TI Chair François Valérian to visit New Zealand in August

At the end of August François Valérian, Chair of our global body Transparency International, is visiting the Pacific TI chapters. He will spend three days in New Zealand.  This will be a great opportunity for our members to hear from François.

On 28 August TINZ members will have a chance to virtually meet, hear from and talk to François.  He will discuss his perspective on corruption trends in the world and talk specifically about the TI movement including global strategy, activities and partnerships.

On 29 August TINZ along with the New Zealand Chapters of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and Risk Management Society (RIMS) are hosting an anti-corruption business forum in Auckland. François will speak at the forum along with Karen Chang, CEO of the Serious Fraud Office and Kirk Hope, Chief Executive of Business NZ. This forum is now booked out.

On 30 August, François and our TI regional team will talk with Pacific Island Public Service personnel.  He will also be a key guest at an anti- corruption forum being run by TINZ along with the Office of the Auditor General, Business Central and the NZ Chapters of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and Risk Management Society (RIMS).

At this forum we will also release the first report informing the 2024 New Zealand National Integrity System Assessment. This is Dr Simon Chapple’s research into the effectiveness of functions of government in deterring, detecting and exposing corruption.

Senior officials from agencies with core anti corruption roles will also take part in a panel discussion.
