TINZ AGM 2023

Brendon Wilson receiving Lifetime Membership from Anne Tolley

Transparency International New Zealand AGM was held in person and online on 28 November where the general business of the organisation was conducted followed by a presentation.

TINZ Chair Ann Tolley presented the Annual Report, reported on the performance of the organisation and highlighted the year’s gains and losses.

We thanked five departing directors - Brendon Wilson, Karen Coutts, Alan McDonald, Peter Kelly and Anna Muir. Brendon was recognized for his nine years of service with a lifetime membership.

Three new directors, Derek Gill, Bernie McKendrey and Andrew Hunt were elected to the TINZ Board. Debbie Gee was appointed Deputy Chair.

After the conclusion of the AGM business, Jon Duffy, Chief Executive, Consumer NZ presented.  He talked about the epidemic of fraud being experienced by New Zealanders, and about the need for fair competition.  He said that civil society organisations like Consumer NZ, which play a vital role in holding power to account, need to be better resourced to do their work, and should not be expected to provide free consultancy services to government.
