TINZ gets the TI-Tick

In order to be a chapter of the global TI movement, TINZ needs to be accredited every three years. This is managed by the Membership Accreditation Committee (MAC) of Transparency International. The process aims to ensure that we maintain compliance with TI standards and that we continue to strengthen our own work.

TINZ recently progressed through its accreditation review, and got the tick, with flying colours.

We are pleased to acknowledge that your Chapter continues to make a significant contribution to the TI Movement in your country and that the Movement is truly grateful to you and your colleagues for that. (François Valérian, Chair of TI)

An accreditation includes a self-assessment and review by Transparency International. Both are very useful as they allow for challenge to complacency and assumptions.

We had no requirements (must do’s) from the report, but received several useful suggestions for improving additional transparency on policies, safeguarding strict independence from government; and developing and publicising a longer term strategy. We have been encouraged to  implement regular refresher training courses on TINZ policies with the Board, volunteers and personnel.
