Tod Cooper, Australia and New Zealand Procurement Leader of the Year

TINZ Board member Tod Cooper who was recently awarded 2024 winner of the CIPS Australia and New Zealand Procurement Leader of the Year.

Tod has been a TINZ member since May 2017 and has served on our board since 2020. Not only has Tod  provided us with leadership in the procurement arena, he has educated and informed us about modern slavery, a particular personal passion of his.  He is a solid contributor to our thought leadership and a contributor to the Transparency Times.

The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) in Australia and New Zealand is a regional branch of CIPS, a global professional body for procurement and supply chain management. CIPS is dedicated to promoting and advancing high standards in the procurement and supply profession.

His colleague's nomination says it best: 

"Tod Cooper, Director Procurement for the Department of Corrections NZ, has a career that spans several commercial and procurement positions over the past 20 years in both public and private sectors ... Tod’s work ethos is grounded in re-engineering how things are done to make it better. As an influential senior leader, Tod puts his energy into developing and empowering his team to push the boundaries of what is possible." 

Tod was selected by the independent judging panel for his outstanding commitment to the profession and to bettering its future. The judges were extremely impressed by his leadership qualities, focus on responsible public procurement and the strong team culture he works to embody in his organisation. 

Tod Commented: “As a procurement leader it is important to follow your heart, stick to your values. Don’t look back on your career with regret."
